The Long Weekend

Here in Utah, the 24th of July is as big, if not bigger, than the 4th. For Spring City, it’s the annual town festival day, featuring a firefighter’s breakfast, parade, carnival, and more. I’m a member of the volunteer fire department here, so it was a busy day for me. I had to get up to cook breakfast for hundreds of townspeople and visitors, then I got to drive our big fire engine in the parade.

After the parade, I had a couple of hours before I had to head over to Fairview, where we assisted their fire department to provide safety for the annual demolition derby and fireworks display. I was up before the sun, and got home well after midnight. It was a long but very rewarding day.

Needless to say, writing wasn’t really on the agenda for the 24th. Saturday was back to business, and I started designing the cover art for the book. I’m really happy with the concept so far, but it’s going to take a while to finish.

Now it’s Monday, and I’m back to writing… with interruptions. I’m involved in the local scout troop, and they’re doing their summer camp this week. I’ll be running some supplies up to them this afternoon, then spending a few days up in the mountains later this week.

I’m still trying to get Chapter 2 completed and up on Patreon by the end of the week. I’m going to push hard on that goal. So there you go, readers. Chapter 2 coming soon, and cover art too! Hope you enjoyed your weekend as well!
