Mondays and Audiobooks

When I woke up this morning, I couldn’t wait to get to work. I love what I do! This is a fairly new thing for me. I used to loathe Mondays. Now all I need to do is get to the point where my writing is bringing in enough money to support my family.

That brings up the next point. I’ve spoken to a lot of people who love fiction, but have a hard time sitting down to read a book. Many people just don’t feel like they have the time to stop and read; others just have a hard time reading. Virtually everyone who has mentioned this to me loves audiobooks. Several say it’s because they can listen to an audiobook while doing something else (commuting gets mentioned a lot). Others just have an easier time getting wrapped up in a story when they don’t have to hold the book (or ebook reader) and read the words themselves.

So I’ve decided that I’m going to produce an audiobook version of Shadow and Light. I’m still working out the details of how the production will be done. What I’m able to do with the audiobook will be heavily influenced by my budget. I’ve got some good audio recording hardware, but I need new editing software, and getting a good narrator usually costs money. For those reasons, I’ll be releasing the audiobook exclusively through my Patreon campaign. As chapters of the audiobook become available, I’ll make them available to my Patreon supporters.

In the mean time, I’m going to get back to work. Chapter 3 is in the works right now, and will probably be available on Patreon early next week.
